According to declypt on November 24, the Collins dictionary announced that "NFT" is the annual vocabulary in 2021, beating a series of candidates including "double vaxxed", "hybrid working", "cheugy" and "metaverse".

Collins dictionary defines NFT (abbreviation of non fungible token) as "a unique digital certificate registered in the blockchain, which is used to record the ownership of assets such as works of art or collections." as a noun, the term describes "assets with ownership recorded through non-homogeneous tokens".
